The objective

The objective of this thesis is to study the role of the architect, that is the type of his/her participation in every stage of the architectural project, from design to inauguration, as well the relation among these types of participation. The participation of architects during the construction is examined in order to maintain the main idea and the principles of the original design, to correctly manage any change that may arise during construction, to maintain the quality of functionality and the aesthetic design values and to respect as much as possible the budget and the time schedule

The range of the roles of an architect

It is important to understand the whole range of the roles that an architect assumes, from the study, the approval and the construction to the final handover of the site. The job of the architects is to facilitate the connection and assure the understanding and cooperation between the design team and the constructor, in order to achieve the best construction results, based on the original instructions of the client.

Redefinition of the architect’s role

This research thesis is addressed to engineering technicians of all types and especially to architects. Apart from the fields of design and construction, architects are now involved in the field of project management, in projects assigned by the public and quasi-public sector institutions and by entrepreneurs.

The architect in an evolving reality

Finally, the study is an attempt to respond to the architect’s need and redefinition of his education. The architectural training should be updated and expanded, so that the architect’s presence in the labour market will be expressed in a flexible, dynamic and not univocal manner.
